The “Gran Duque” cave in Casares opens for the public 20-21 May
This weekend, 20 and 21 of May the Cave “Gran Duque” in Sierra de la Utrera in Casares is open for the general public with guided tours.
There will be two groups on Saturday and two on Sunday, at 9 in the morning and at 12 noon. Places are limited to 10 persons per group. Tickets are purchased at Blas Infante’s childhood home in the village.

The Gran Duque cave is situated in the mountain Sierra de la Utrera in Casares. The mountain has several caves but The Gran Duque cave is the largest. The cave was discovered in recent years and was first kept a secret while studied by a team of archeologists. The remains found in Sierra de la Utrera shows the fascinating fact that this area was inhabited already in prehistoric time 100.000 years ago!
